HEALTH PROTECTION AND MEDICAL DIRECTORATE
Health Protection and Medical Directorate HPMD comprises six teams covering, emergency response, environmental public health, global public health, quality and clinical governance and healthcare public health.
The Directorate is a source of expert advice and operational support and contributes actively to policymaking and implementation in partnership with other PHE divisions and the Department of Health and externally with the NHS, local authorities and other agencies.
Global Public Health
This post is located within PHEs Global Public Health department, led by the Director of Global Public Health. The Global Public Health department supports the delivery of PHEs Global Health Strategy. It provides a corporate service to PHE supporting the oversight, coordination and delivery of PHEs international activity and working with UK government departments and other UK partners to build and strengthen international public health links. It also maintains its own extensive portfolio of global health programmes and projects, focusing on capacity building and health system strengthening in partner countries.
JOB SUMMARY
The UK Overseas Territory programme has been extended to include work packages on mental health and obesity and hurricane recovery so the need for a full time EO has risen to support the growing demand of this programme and to deliver the agreed objectives.
The post-holder will support PHEs Global Public Health divisions program of work focused around the UK Overseas Territories .
The post-holder will support activity in the UK related to the above work. This includes providing administrative and logistical support to on-going complex lines of work, in order to ensure efficient delivery of program objectives - enabling and empowering members of the program teams to deliver their expertise both when working remotely from the UK and during technical and/or emergency visits in the UKOTs.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The work will comprise an appropriate mix of the following activities although not restricted to these:



Provide daily operational and administrative support to the program team.





To alert colleagues to urgent issues arising and take responsibility for approaching deadlines and operating an efficient bring forward system.





Booking of travel and accommodation for PHE staff, facilitating application and collection of visas and managing and processing expenses claims.






Organisation of pre-departure training for PHE staff as needed.






Provide general administrative support to program staff as required e.g. minute-taking, arranging meetings, booking meeting rooms as directed by colleagues.





Provide support for organization of conferences and events





Develop and maintain databases of program activities and assist in the generation reports for meetings, presentations and program updates based on specified search criteria.





Use PHE finance and procurement services and coordinate with HR and finance to make arrangements for staff, including monthly returns on annual leave and sickness absence monitoring; time carding; program transactions/expenditure reporting
