Accounts Assistant Job
Stafford (ST16), Stafford
Salary: From £16,000 to £18,000 per annum Overtime paid for out of office hour
EM Recruitment are pleased to be working with a new client locally handling their recruitment requirements to engage an Accounts Assistant to join their already successful team. The business has major growth plans so it is an exciting time to be coming on board.
Under the guidance and direction of the Divisional Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for the maintenance of all day-to-day accounting records, the production of which will comply to a strict set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported results. The successful candidate will have frequent contact with both the MD and the Office Manager, occasional contact other departments such as AP, accounts, and IT. Being a daily point of contact for company customer network and occasional contact with suppliers.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
Daily maintenance of bank and cashbook reconciliations
Recording and posting of payments and receipts within the accounting system
Taking credit card payments, maintenance of associated records, and provision of remittances where necessary
Full responsibility of a small purchase ledger and all associated tasks to include checking and posting of invoices, generating regular payment runs, making payments, and dealing with supplier queries
Issuing invoices or credit notes as required
Checking and processing of inbound paperwork relating to the financing company
Daily calculation of payments and production of associated remittances and invoices
Assist the Accounting Manager with any other necessary accounting functions such as VAT returns, balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis
Assistance with team exercises outside on office hours 5 times a year, helping the business in an administration capacity.
Any other related adhoc duties or projects as assigned by the line manager.
Depending on the candidate the role is likely to expand in the future to include more detailed involvement in the production of month end and year end accounts.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
AAT qualified or close to qualification completion, teamed with a minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
Be familiar with all fundamental accounting principles and techniques, showing a strong analytical approach.
Proficient in the use of MS Office, with particularly strong Excel skills - all applicants must provide a minimal level of intermediate skills
Excellent communication & time management skills
Strong interpersonal skills
